The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), state2state project has organised a three day training for 23 local government Human Resources for Health (HRH) desk officers in Sokoto State.

Declaring the training open at Dankani Guest Palace Hotel, Sokoto the USAID State2State Activity MEL Coordinator, Mr Olalekan Steven Medaiyese, said the training was organised in collaboration with Sokoto State Primary Healthcare Development Agency to equip relevant healthcare personnel and administrators with with the necessary skills to effectively use the human resources health Management information system data entry platform.
He noted that, “The training of the health personnel was to assist them to reorganize the state human resource health system to ensure timely availability of accurate and up-to-date data for policy, planning, and management.
“With proper training, HRH desk officers will be able to utilize the system to generate accurate and timely reports. These reports are essential for making strategic decisions concerning health workforce planning and management.
“This will also further strengthen the state’s human HRH management information systems, towards improving health system governance structure, thereby enhancing decision making process, increasing accountability and transparency, saving cists, optimise the workforce, and enabling quality working condition for health workers.
“It will also build the capacity and enhancing their efficiency and effectiveness as well as empowers them to not only use the system, but also train others, ensuring a continuous pool of knowledgeable users,” he noted.
Mr Steven expressed USAID State2State more commitments to partner state government in the area of Health, Education and WASH towards improved quality services delivery in the state.
The Coordinator urged the participants of the training to always continue to remain committed towards providing up-to-date date and timely data required for effective policy, planning and management in the state.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health in the state, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, commended the organizers of the training which she described as a step towards improving Healthcare service delivery.
She also described the training as apt and timely which is in line with Governor Ahmed Aliyu 9-points smart agenda in the state.
Hajiya Balarabe reiterated the state government commitments to continue to support and partner all relevant stakeholders seeking to provide sustainable development in the state.
The Commissioner urged the participants to always use the experience acquired for effective data gathering and management that would assist government towards implementing relevant policies and programs.
