USAID trains over 50 women, Youths on Mechanised Agriculture

United States Agency for International Development, USAID, in partnership with Tractor on the Go, have  trained over 50 Women and some youths on how to practice Mechanised Agriculture in order to improve Agricultural Practice in Nigeria.

 

The State Coordinator of the Program, Professor Ike- Elechi Ogba who is also the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences of Ebonyi State University says “We had the partnership with the Company called Tractor on the Go, it is a subsidiary of Origin Group, which is a multinational Company in Agro business in partnership with USAID. They selected five States in Nigeria to fund on the project of empowering Women in Mechanised Agriculture.”

 

Ogba called on Nigeria Government to step into the program so that other Millions of Nigerians could be trained as well.

 

He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the knowledge they have gotten very well.

 

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics of Ebonyi State University, Professor Happiness Oselebe says “we have come to teach the women and Youths on the importance of mechanisation in Agriculture because we believe that Agriculture has evolved, it is no longer difficult as it was before now.

“Our people used to farm with conventional methods but  because of the funding from the Origin Group on the project called Tractor on the Go, we have brought this women and Youths to talk to them about Mechanised farming”. 

 

The facilitator of f the Program, who is also the Initiator of Cafe Scientifique Woman, Chioma Ibiam expressed joy over the program as some members of her Organisation benefited from the Mechanised Agriculture program.

 

Cafe Scientifique Woman is a hub for knowledge sharing and acquisition for the girls between the ages of 14-30 years to learn certain skills about Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM,” Ajah stated.

 

The beneficiaries, Mary Ifeoma Moses,  Nwibo Nkechinyere, Nwokolo Chinenye and Nkwede Christian thanked Tractor on the Go and USAID for bringing such Agricultural transformation to the rural Farmers in Ebonyi State.
