Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima is presiding over a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC).
The meeting, which started at 10:25 GMT, is taking place at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Those attending the meeting include the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; and Health Minister, Prof. Muhammad Ali-Pate.
Others are the Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello; Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State; Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State; Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State; Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State; Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State; Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State; and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.
Deputy Governors of Enugu, Gombe, Kano, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno, Osun, and Oyo States, among others, are also attending the meeting.
The council statutorily meets every month to review the performance of the economy as well as consider measures that need to be taken in order to boost the economy. It also advises the president on how to make life better for the citizens.
