Super Eagles and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen scored in Napoli’s 2-0 away victory against Sampdoria in match day 30 of the Italian Serie A at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Osimhen made his 9th Serie A start this season as he looked to maintain his fine goalscoring form coming into the game.

Gennaro Gattuso’s men took the lead in the 35th minute courtesy of a strike from Fabian Ruiz. The goal came about following a wonderful team move with a series of one-touch passes, which allowed  Ruiz slot the ball past Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero.

Sampdoria’s Morten Thorsby thought he equalised with a header, but it was disallowed following a VAR review. Napoli defender Koulibaly was fouled in the build-up to the goal so the referee made the right call.

Napoli continued to press and had the majority of possession, but it was not until three minutes from time they killed all hopes of a potential Sampdoria comeback.
