Voice of Nigeria (VON) is set to integrate sports activities into its organisational culture, in a bid to foster unity, enhance mental alertness, and encourage social interaction among its staff.

The Director General of VON, Mal Jibrin Baba Ndace, stated this during the recently concluded five-day 7th In-house Championship at Life Camp Volleyball Club (LCVC) in Abuja.

The DG expressed the importance of incorporating sporting events within a media organisation.

He emphasised that such activities would contribute significantly to refreshing the minds and boosting the mental alertness of the staff.

Commending the organisers of the volleyball competition, DG VON highlighted the potential of the event to create harmony and unity not only among participants but also within the surrounding communities.

Honorable Hassan Abdullahi, a member of the LCVC Board of Trustees, shared optimism about the club’s future and unveiled plans for 2024, including initiatives such as coaching clinics in numerous schools.

Maj. Gen. (Rtd) T.A. Gagariga, Chairman of the NVBF Park Volleyball Council, and Chief Sponsor/Co-Chairman of the Yenagoa National Invitational Volleyball Challenge, expressed appreciation to the organizers and announced the upcoming Yenagoa National Invitational Volleyball Challenge scheduled for January 2024.

In the fiercely contested Men’s category,
•TeamBLUE secured the 4th position.
•TeamGREEN clinched the Bronze along with a cash prize of N50,000.
•TeamASH faced a 0:3 defeat in the finals against the formidable.
•TeamRED, who took home N100,000 while their valiant opponents received N70,000.

Distinguished personalities present at the event included FIVB Internationally badged Madam Shebba Jefferson, 2nd Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Volleyball Referees Association – NVRA; Commodore (Ret) J.A. Pindar, Chairman of the FCT Volleyball Association and Grand Patron of champions CNS Spikers; and Air Vice Marshal (Ret) Kingsley Lar.

The event not only showcased sporting excellence but also demonstrated a strong sense of community within the volleyball fraternity.
