The Director General, of Voice of Nigeria, Dr Osita Okechukwu has called for continuous peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
He made the call at the 2nd Grand Media Summit to mark 2023 World Radio Day organised by by the VON chapter of the Radio, Television and Theatre and Arts Workers Union, ( RATTAWU) in Lagos.
Represented by the Deputy Director News, Mrs Funke Atohengbe, the Director-General, commended the Union led by Comrade Zanna Ibrahim Mustapha and his team for putting up the laudable media summit commemorating the World Radio day.
Every February 13 yearly is recognized by UNESCO as World Radio Day day with “Radio and Peace” being identified as the theme for the 2023 edition.
With the 2023 Elections approaching, Voice of Nigeria would play an active role in averting Fake News & Misinformation in an era of New Media. This was anchored by the Director-General of Nigeria Institute of International affairs, Prof. Eghosa E. Osaghae.
Eminent persons were duly recognized and honoured with awards for exemplary contributions to their communities and the country at large. Director National Broadcasting Academy, Lagos Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, bagged the most creative and capacity builder technocrat Award and Eng Alh Sa’adu Yusuf Gulma, Chairman APC Arewa Community, bagged the most active grass roots Mobiliser Award among many others.
This year’s summit comes seven years after the first edition in 2016.
