The National Command of the Man O’ War has inducted and trained newly appointed State Commanders and their deputies as well as Railway Commanders as part of efforts to curb security challenges in Nigeria.
The training which was held at the Youth Support Centre, Abuja drew Commanders and deputies of Man O War from all the 36 states of the Federation in addition to railway Commanders.
Man O’ War is a non-profit and voluntary organisation of Nigerian Youths with the aim of helping them grow, better themselves and be useful for the benefit of the society at large.
Addressing the inductees, the National Commander, Man O’ War, Retired Colonel Sani Depsia urged the new commanders to rise to the occasion and aid the security agencies in mitigating security challenges in their various commands.
Delivering a lecture titled; “The Vision and Mission” of the Man O’ War, Colonel Depsia said the new Commanders must meet up with the rising demands of their offices especially as it concerns security challenges, conflict resolutions, as well as rescue and disaster management amongst other.
He said; “Man O’ War is domiciled in all the local governments in this country, therefore it is our duty to see how best we can partner with security agencies in terms of providing relevant information and assisting the needy in times of disaster.
“No matter how good your security is, information from the locals is very vital, because they know where, who and how security breaches emanate and the man o war being versatile in nature can be utilised to harness these information to drive home the National objectives of security in all nooks and crannies of the country.”
Colonel Sani further stated that every Nigerian citizen was qualified for Man O’ War as long as they volunteer and are willing to work within the goals of the organisation.
The Director General, Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre; Mr. Adesoji Eniade in a lecture titled “Administrative Procedures” said a good structure reflects the value of an organisation and how it creates a better environment for its members.
Mr Eniade said; “Without clearly defined structures and procedures, an organisation cannot deliver quality services and organisations are able to grow and achieve their goals with clearly defined structures. What is the goals, the mandate and objectives of Man O’ War, nationally, in states and the Railway Commands and at the local government levels?” The administration has two elements which are collective efforts and common purpose and this collective efforts means team work without which the structures collapse.”
The Director Human Resources of the Centre, Ada Uche represented Director General, Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre; Mr. Adesoji Eniade at the event.
The two days activities of the Man O’ War climaxed on Saturday 2nd April with the formal swearing in of the new Commanders who were charged by the National commander to go back to their various commands with a renewed vigour to help in their little way in securing their emediate environment.
