Voice of Nigeria, VON and an African tech company, Adanian Labs have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote tech start-ups and digital broadcasting to accelerate digital transformation in Africa.

Speaking in Abuja during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the Director General of VON, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, said the partnership will help the organisation to accelerate digital transformation through broadcasting and promote indigenous tech start-ups in Nigeria and across Africa, which will in turn boost socio-economic development of the continent.

He said the MoU includes a public relations drive and brand visibility for both organisations, which will deepen market-share across the continent in the provision of contents on technology and innovation, with emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, Block Chain Technology, as well as capacity building for staff, among others, Mr. Okechukwu explained.

Adanian Labs Country Head in Nigeria, Mr. Killian Mayua, underscored the need to harness the digital space through broadcasting, to enable Voice of Nigeria be that voice not only for Nigeria but for Africa as well.

As Voice of Nigeria is given the mandate to represent the interest of Nigeria and Africa to the world in terms of Communications, we want to achieve three things; to build capacity in the organisation through provision of equipment and software, to provide the content that will reposition Voice of Nigeria as the authoritative voice in Africa and to create a more convivial environment whereby we encourage strategic partnerships between Voice of Nigeria and people that are doing things across all sectors in Nigeria and Africa.
In addition to that ‘’We want to have a reference point that we met Voice of Nigeria at 70% analog but we took them to 90%; in terms of digital technical partnership and in terms of technology internationally, give VON access to our partners too.”
Mr Mayua stated.

He noted that if given the opportunity, Adanian Labs hopes to be seen and heard through Voice of Nigeria, which would showcase and promote its activities. Adanian Labs intends to add value by promoting and sensitizing Africa and the world. This is where Voice of Nigeria comes in as the organisation has the mandate to talk about what is happening in and around Africa.

Mr.  Mayua said the company “focuses on showcasing and promoting start-ups to create jobs through solutions.
Its a venture studio whose aim is to find young people that are doing things in the technology space, providing them with technical support and marketing, by finding partners where we can leverage to prove what they are building. We source for funding locally and internationally as well as provide opportunity for young people to show case their talent as technology is an equaliser that we all need.”

In view of this, Adanian Labs Country Head disclosed that as part of the partnership, the company will launch a call to run a programme for start-ups to pitch solutions to reposition Voice of Nigeria with our partners.

“We will advertise and call for five start-ups with ideas that can revamp Voice of Nigeria. They will pitch their ideas and it will be hosted here. This is where our partners will come to sponsor such start-ups with solutions that will solve the problems the organisation is facing and reposition it.”

He added that as a Pan African organisation that promotes a border-less Africa, the focus would be to enable the digital transformation of Voice of Nigeria to reach audiences across board and leverage on the reach of the organisation to promote a border-less, resilient and prosperous Africa.
