The 2021 Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT chapter sports tournament is set to commence as Voice of Nigeria (VON) will be squaring up against AIT, NAN, FRCN, NCBN and NTA for the trophy.
The week-long events, tagged SWAN week, will kick-off on Saturday November 20th, with physical exercises beginning from the prestigious old parade ground in Abuja. The SWAN FCT chairman, Ndubueze Chidoka, disclosed this during an official draw ceremony.
Chidoka said an intense health talk and checks have been put in place with highly-placed medical professionals ready to anchor the session on Monday, November 22nd in the morning hours. Thereafter, the preliminary football matches will take place later same day.
“This year’s event is designed to enable members ease off and take necessary measures to living healthy,” Chidoka said.
The tennis event is scheduled for Tuesday at the package B of the Moshood Abiola stadium, while the football competition will conclude on Thursday November 25. All football matches will last for 20mins each.
Cash and medals will be handed to the winners of the competition.
