The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has appreciated the unique complimentary role of Radio Nigeria in educating, informing, enlightening, and entertaining audiences locally and internationally.
Describing it as historical, he said VON was formerly an external service arm of Radio Nigeria until 1991.
He stated this during a courtesy visit to the Lagos Operations of Radio Nigeria.
Accompanied by the management staff of VON, Mallam Ndace toured the burnt facilities of Radio Nigeria and expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the management and staff of Radio Nigeria over the fire outbreak that destroyed broadcasting equipment and other valuable property worth millions of naira.
Speaking on behalf of the Director of Lagos Operations of Radio Nigeria, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, the Manager of Programmes, Mrs. Olivia Hayfron expressed gratitude to the VON Director General for his gesture of solidarity.
She stressed the importance of collaboration between the two institutions, both of which hold esteemed national and international reputations in the broadcasting industry.
