Journalists have been urged to use their profession to promote positive impact in the society for the interest of Nigeria.

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, underscored the significance of journalistic standards, fact-checking, and rigorous research during his paper presentation titled “Solution Journalism: The Way to Go for Niger State Journalists”, at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council Grand Finale of its Press Week held in Minna, Niger State’s capital.

Ndace highlighted the advantages of solution journalism, including promoting collaboration, inspiring innovation, and informing and empowering audiences by showcasing effective responses, initiatives, and positive actions based on truth.

He further emphasized that solution journalism should be presented within a broader context to offer a comprehensive understanding of the issues, evaluate real-world impact, and present a balanced view to empower audiences.

The Director General stated that “there is a need for effective collaboration between stakeholders, such as policymakers, businesses, and communities, to support journalists in disseminating information.”

Ndace further emphasized that solution journalism can serve as a source of inspiration, encouraging the development and implementation of new ideas.

He urged journalists in Niger State to embrace it, support the government in implementing programs and projects in an engaged, informed, and optimistic manner for the benefit of the people.
