The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Ndace, says VON is set to partner with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) on fighting corruption and raising awareness through image enhancement and public sensitization campaigns.

Mallam Ndace conveyed this determination during a visit to Dr. Musa Aliyu SAN, Chairman of ICPC, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Emphasizing VON’s dedication, he highlighted the organization’s extensive reach, broadcasting in eight languages, as a valuable asset in amplifying the anti-corruption message.

“Voice of Nigeria is the only institution established by the government to amplify positive narrative about Nigeria and Nigerians, about Africa and Africans. There can’t be a better place for ICPC to tell its story about its activities than Voice of Nigeria. We are here for you. We are partners in progress. We are a brand you can rely on to tell your story,” he said.

He commended the ICPC for its achievements and assured of his commitment to build on the legacies of the founding fathers of VON to tell the Nigerian and African story to the world.

He urged the ICPC to leverage the VON platforms to tell their stories to the world.

“We want to partner with the ICPC to amplify their programs and consolidate because we all know the focus of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Renewed Hope Agenda in positioning our country for foreign direct investments. We need to create the right public perception about our country,” he said.

While speaking, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu SAN, emphasized the importance of educating the public about the roles and responsibilities of the ICPC in their native languages.

“We need to reach out to people in their local languages. People need to do what we do. We shouldn’t rely on speaking to them in foreign languages because we need to talk to them in the language they understand. They can help us with information and also they need to know what ICPC is doing. Now we have a platform of reaching out to people within and outside Nigeria,” he said.

He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between the ICPC and VON to successfully combat corruption in Nigeria, noting that the media plays a significant role in bringing corrupt officials to justice and exposing corrupt practices in the public and private sectors.

Dr. Aliyu stressed the significance of transparency and accountability in ensuring the effectiveness of anti-corruption agencies, especially the ICPC.
