The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has underscored the importance of media and security tolerance amidst the backdrop of political and social criticism in Nigeria.

Mallam Ndace stated this during the 7th International Conference on Love and Tolerance, hosted by Efut Dialogue at the National Institute of Conflict Resolution in Abuja,

The event centered on the theme “Harmony through Compassion: Embracing Diversity in Pursuit of Peace.”

The DG VON further urged critics and opinion leaders to recognise the efforts of security agencies rather than resorting to outright condemnation when addressing security issues.

He advocated for a positive utilisation of the media to highlight challenges and propose solutions to security concerns affecting the nation.

Furthermore, Ndace recommended the inclusion of experienced security personnel and embedded journalists in conflict-related discussions to provide more comprehensive and constructive criticism regarding crime and conflict in Nigeria.

Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) Director-General, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, expressed concern over the current insecurity in the country, stating that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 would be challenging without addressing these issues. Ochogwu stressed the need for love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians to foster sustainable development.

President of Ufuk Dialogue, Mr. Emrah Ilgen, emphasised the importance of understanding how love and tolerance can unite people from different beliefs and cultures.

He highlighted the role of love in fostering connections and emphasised tolerance as a means to bridge gaps between individuals with differing perspectives.

Ilgen called for efforts to address issues like prejudice and discrimination through education and open dialogue to create societies where love and tolerance are integral components of everyday life.
