Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over an emergency meeting the National Economic Council, NEC, that began at about 11.00 am Nigerian time on Friday.
The meetings of the Council hold on the third Thursday of the month, but the emergency meeting is taking place on the first Friday in July.
It is not clear what issues are on the agenda of the meeting.
However, at the last meeting of the NEC the council resolved to hold a special session to review reports of judicial panels of enquiry set up across Nigeria to investigate the EndSARS protest that took place in the country last year.
Vice President Osinbajo is presiding over the virtual meeting from his office at the State House, Abuja, while governors of the 36 states in Nigeria are participating from the states.
Details later.
