VP Osinbajo presides over Federal Executive Council meeting

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over a virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council, which began at about 10.00 am Nigerian time on Wednesday.

It is the first cabinet meeting since President Muhammadu Buhari travelled to the United Kingdom to participate in the Global Education Summit and for a scheduled medical check-up.

Wednesday’s meeting of the Council also comes three weeks after the last, held on 14 July 2021 before the Eid-il-Kabir festival.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ade Ipaye; and the Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijani Umar, are physically present at the meeting.

Ministers present at the meeting, holding at the First Lady’s Conference Room of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, are Sabo Nanono, Agriculture and Rural Development; Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice;  Lai Mohammed, Information and Culture; and Rotimi Amaechi, Transportation.

Others are Zainab Ahmed, Finance, Budget and National Planning; Saleh Mamman, Power; Emeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education and Minister of State for Petroleum, Timiprye Sylva.
