Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over the virtual meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, which began at 11.00am Nigerian time on Thursday.
Governors from all the 36 states are participating in the meeting virtually.
At its meeting in June, the Council resolved to hold a special session to review the reports of the reports of judicial panels of enquiry set up across Nigeria to investigate the EndSARS protest that took place in the country last year.
Thursday’s meeting may further discuss the convening of the special session of NEC.
Other issues that may come up on the agenda of the meeting include security, the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination and the economy.
The meeting will also get updates on Nigeria’s Stabilization Account, the Excess Crude Account and the Natural Resource Development Fund Account.
