VP Shettima Attends Turbaning Ceremony in Jigawa State

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, embarked on a visit to Jigawa State on Thursday, marking a notable occasion in the region’s cultural calendar.

During his stay, Vice President Shettima witnessed a momentous turbaning ceremony as an illustrious son of Jigawa State, Alhaji Nasiru Danu, was formally bestowed with the prestigious title of ‘Sardaunan Dutse’.

The atmosphere was charged with anticipation and pride as Mr. Adokiye Ikpoki was also honoured with the title ‘Sodangoin Dutse’ in the same grand event.

The Vice President, immersed in the rich cultural heritage of Jigawa, was visibly captivated by the vibrant display of traditional dances, which underscored the depth of the region’s cultural identity.

The proceedings unfolded at the palace of the Emir of Jigawa, commencing with the solemn reading of the recipients’ citations, a testament to their contributions and standing within the community.Also Read: First Lady Commissions ICT Centre In Jigawa State

Following this, amidst an aura of reverence and tradition, Alhaji Nasiru Danu was ceremonially adorned in the resplendent attire befitting a Sardauna, before being formally turbaned by palace attendants.

This symbolic act was echoed as Mr. Adokiye Ikpoki received similar honours, solidifying his place within the esteemed ranks of Jigawa’s cultural elite.In his address, the Emir of Jigawa, Muhammad Sanusi, revealed that the recipients were chosen based on merit.

He urged them to sustain the prestige of their titles and continue to work for humanity.

Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, was also at the event in solidarity with Mr. Danu, who was an aide to the former president.

Vice President Shettima returned to Abuja immediately after the event was over.
