Nigeria’s Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, has briefed the Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr Tijjani Umar and other senior civil servants in the Office of the Vice President, on the functions and responsibilities of the various units in his office.
Speaking during the interaction with the senior civil servants in the State House, VP Shettima expressed optimism for a harmonious working relationship during his tenure, especially in the execution of the mandate of the Nigerian Government.
He received briefings from the various heads of units and expressed the hope that the experience of the staff would assist him in the discharge of the responsibilities of his office.
Meanwhile, in a chat with Presidential Villa correspondents after the meeting, the Permanent Secretary said that the interaction with the VP was “part of the obligations of the institutional officers to welcome our principals and assist them to settle down without hindrance.”
He said that the meeting was to “place on the table the roles and responsibilities of the various offices and officers deployed to help our discharge their mandates to the country.”
According to him, it was important to provide an efficient service to the new administration of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashima.
“We are looking forward to a very robust execution of our roles and also provide them with the necessary support to discharge their duties to the nation in a smooth, safe, secure and efficient manner.
“The briefing went well and we will continue to do that with the regularity that is required, to maintain the efficiency that is expected of this high office, ”the Permanent Secretary said
Present at the meeting were principal aides of the Vice President led by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia and heads of the various units in his office.
