VP Shettima Presides As Nigeria’s Economic Council Meets

A meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, has begun in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with Vice President Kashim Shettima presiding.

The Governors who arrived early for the meeting, which commenced at 11 am Nigerian time, include Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Abdullahi Sule of Nassarawa State, and the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ossai.

Also present are Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe; Dauda Hassan, Zamfara; Dikko Radda, Katsina; Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, Kwara; Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti; and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State.

Other Governors attending the meeting are those of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed; Kaduna Uba Sani; Delta, Sheriff Obrevwori; Kebbi, Nasir Idris; Anambra, Charles Soludo; Edo, Godwin Obaseki; and Deputy Governor of Kogi state, David Onoja.

The governors of Jigawa State, Umaru Namadi; Yobe State, Mai Mala Bunu; Bayelsa, Duoye Diri; Akwa Ibom, Umo Eno; Cross River, Bassey Out; Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun; Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliu; Plateau state, Caleb Mutfwang; Benue, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Imo, Senator Hope Uzodimma; and the Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The National Economic Council is a statutory body, chaired by the Vice President and comprises the 36 Governors of the federation, Ministers in charge of finance, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, among others.
