Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima is presiding over a meeting of the National Economic Council.
The meeting, which started at noon GMT, is being attended by Governors of the 36 States of the federation.
Also in attendance are the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, among others.

The meeting is a monthly gathering of the 36 Governors and other stakeholders, under the Chairmanship of the Vice President, that usually takes a critical look at the economy and proffers solutions to challenges in that sector.
It is expected that the current notice of strike by the organized labour would also be on the agenda for today’s meeting, to appeal to the labour unions to shelve the idea of embarking on strike.
