Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima is presiding over an emergency session of the National Economic Council, NEC.
The meeting, which started at 11:00 GMT, is taking place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting is being attended by State Governors, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, his Finance, and the representative of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria among others.
President Bola Tinubu is also expected to make an appearance later in the course of the meeting, when he is expected to consult with the Governors on the proposed new national minimum wage.
The National Economic Council is a statutory body that gives advice to the President on economic matters.
