The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, says it is confident that its second extraordinary summit on the political situation in Niger Republic will provide a lasting solution to the political crisis in Niger.
Chairman ECOWAS and Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, made the declaration in his address of welcome to participants at the summit holding at the conference center of the presidential villa, Abuja.
He said that “the three envoys sent by ECOWAS to Niger to mediate on the political crisis in Niger will give their report at the summit.”
The ECOWAS Chairman also stated that the regional leaders are ready to exhaust all avenues of peaceful engagement, to chart a new path towards attaining sustainable peace in Niger Republic.
