The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has declared that the recent defection of one of its founding fathers, Joel Madaki, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has not in any way weakened the party’s structure or popularity in the state.

This statement comes in response to claims by the APC that Madaki’s defection has dealt a major blow to the PDP in Adamawa.

However, critical stakeholders of the PDP from Fufore Local Government Area, Madaki’s home base, have reaffirmed their total loyalty to the party’s leadership and the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Speaking during a solidarity visit to the PDP state executives in Yola, the State Commissioner for Justice, Afraimu Jingi, who led the delegation, said the PDP remains strong and united in Fufore and across Adamawa.

“Our visit to the state party chairman, Hamza Madagali, is a clear symbol of loyalty, unity, and commitment to the progress of our great party. Fufore LGA remains a steadfast pillar of the PDP — come rain or shine. We have not lost ground or any significant voice. Our loyalty is unwavering and time-tested,” Jingi stated.

The commissioner also praised Governor Fintiri for his visionary leadership and the people-oriented policies that have brought visible development and peace to Adamawa State.

“Governor Fintiri’s achievements speak for themselves. In Fufore, for example, the ongoing construction of the Girei–Wuro Bokki road is transforming our communities both economically and socially. Our people remain indebted to the PDP for its inclusive governance and commitment to development,” he added.

In his response, Hon. Hamza Madagali, the Adamawa State PDP Chairman, expressed gratitude to the Fufore delegation for their show of solidarity, describing it as a strong message of unity and resilience within the party.

“This visit clearly demonstrates that Fufore is 100 per cent PDP. The defection of a few individuals cannot shake the foundation of a party built on the will of the people. PDP remains firmly in control of Adamawa State,” Madagali said.

He further assured members that despite recent defections, the PDP continues to grow stronger and remains focused on consolidating its successes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Our party is getting stronger every day. By 2027, God willing, the PDP will be bigger, better, and more united than any other political party in Nigeria,” he reaffirmed.
