The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Kano State Chapter says it is working hard to ensure that the state government refund money deducted from workers’ salaries in the state.

The Chairman of the Congress, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, stated this during a symposium for the May-Day celebration.

He said the global economic meltdown forced the government to deduct workers’ salaries for some months but the union is in consultation with state government to ensure that the deducted money is refunded soon.

“We will continue to engage the government for a refund,” assured Comrade Minjibir.

On the ongoing ASUU strike, the Kano chapter of the labour union said it will join forces with the national body to protest and to draw the government’s attention to the plight of the students.

“We will join hand with the national body to protest against the continuous strike by the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU,” said Minjibir

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, represented by the state’s Head of Civil Service, Usman Bala, stressed that Kano State has been the most labour friendly, and promised to sustain it.
