‘We will give Gov. Sule all legal backing for quality education’ – Nasarawa Assembly

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says that it would give Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration all the necessary support and legal backing for sound and quality education. The House said this was due to the importance of education to societal development.

The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Daniel Ogazi, assured that all the management of Heads of Tertiary Institutions and other MDAs under the education committee appeared before the committee to defend their 2022 budget proposals Lafia.

Ogazi ( APC- Kokona East) said that all hands must be on deck to ensure an improved standard of education in the state.

“You are here to defend your 2020 budget proposals as it is a yearly ritual. We will continue to support you with all the necessary support and legal backing for quality education in the state. As education is key to human and societal development,” he said.

Ogazi urged the heads of tertiary institutions and MDAs to adhere strictly to budgetary provisions in the interest of transparency and for the state’s overall development.

He also urged them to be up and doing while discharging their duties for development to thrive. The chairman has assured the heads of tertiary institutions and MDAs of support in addressing their challenges, including funding, mobility, instructional materials, the backlog of pensions, and gratuity.

Responding were the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi,  Prof. Mohammed Bala; Rector, IMAP Lafia, Dr Justina Kots; Provost, College of Education, Akwanga, Rev. Jonathan Thani, and  Provost, College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, Dr Yahaya Musa Maikeffi. The Chairman, SUBEB, Muhammad Dan’ Azumi, and Permanent Secretary, ministry of education Sani Bala, appreciated the committee’s support in their activities.

They have also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for prioritising the education sector in the state. Also appeared before the committee were Alhaji Idris Umar Idris, General Manager, Nasarawa State Vocational and Relevant Technology Board; Mr Danlami Ikpobose, Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Scholarship Board; Alhaji Abdullahi Abu Galadima, Chairman, Teachers’ Service Commission ( TSC), and Nasarawa Bureau for  Information Communication Technology led by its Director-General, Shehu Ibrahim.

They also pleaded with the House to ensure the right things were done to better humanity and the state. They have appreciated the committee for supporting their activities for the overall development of the commonwealth.
