West Ham United Leads Race for Lookman
West Ham United are reportedly leading the chase for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, hoping to beat out competition from Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG. According to pressmen, the London club views the 2024 Ballon d’Or nominee as a prime target to boost Julen Lopetegui’s attack after a challenging start to the season.
Lookman had a standout 2023/24 campaign with Atalanta, scoring 17 goals and contributing 10 assists across competitions, including a historic hat-trick in the Europa League final that delivered Atalanta’s first European trophy. His performances earned him a 14th-place finish in the recent Ballon d’Or rankings, surpassing Premier League stars Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Cole Palmer.
Despite being under contract with Atalanta until 2026, Lookman may be available for around €25 million, as he reportedly seeks a new challenge. West Ham, who aim to strengthen their attack with the 27-year-old, sees him as an ideal fit alongside Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, and Lucas Paqueta, especially as they look to address concerns with Michail Antonio’s age and Niclas Fullkrug’s limited impact this season.
