Women Affairs Minister commiserates with Nasarawa fire outbreak victims

The Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman, has consoled the Victims of fire disaster in Nasarawa State.
The empathy was contained in a statement issued to Journalists in Abuja on Sunday after an inferno that some tailoring shops at the New Modern Market in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, and destroyed goods worth millions of naira.
According to her, the incident is a painful reminder of the vulnerability of Nasarawa communities to unforeseen tragedies and urged the government, private sector, and well-meaning Nigerians to join hands in rebuilding the market and restoring hope to the affected traders.
The Minister, who also hails from Nasarawa state said, “I stand in solidarity with the victims and their families during this challenging time and urge swift action to provide them with the support they need to recover.
“As a proud daughter of Nasarawa State, I want you to know that I share in your grief at the tragic loss of livelihoods and properties that the fire caused, which has impacted traders and residents who depend on the market for their sustenance.
“While I commend the efforts of emergency responders, security agencies, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to control the fire and assist affected individuals, I equally want to call for a comprehensive investigation into the incident to ensure measures are put in place to prevent future occurrences.
“In line with my commitment to supporting women and vulnerable groups, I want to also pledge my commitment to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to provide relief and rehabilitation for women entrepreneurs and other individuals affected by the fire.
“Together, we can turn this tragedy into an opportunity to build back better, ensuring the safety and resilience of our markets, which are lifelines for many families,” she added.
Imaan further reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to advancing the welfare of women and communities across Nigeria and prayed for the quick recovery of all those affected by the unfortunate incident.
