Women Play Critical Roles in Societal Development – Commissioner

The Anambra State Commissioner for women and social welfare, Honourable Ify Obinabo, has lauded women for their critical roles in Societal Development describing them as great and special gifts from God to the world, with the capacity to accomplish great things.

Obinabo made assertion at a programme organised in Awka, to support, empower and educate women in Anambra State.

The event featured talks and expositions on real life experiences by notable women, who have distinguished themselves across various spheres of human endeavour, aimed at encouraging the younger women folk to take up their responsibility in ensuring a virile society.

Encouraging women to always exhibit love, Obinabo insisted that if women do not antagonize each other, they will be unstoppable.

“If women begin to love and support each other, we would be better off and the world will be a safer, better place for all. Times are hard, but mothers must not forget their primary responsibility which is the family, good mothers make the families glow.”

On his part, Mr. Maxwell Igba, the Activation Manager of Cway Food and Beverages Nigeria limited, and major sponsors of the event, after distributing products worth millions of naira free to the women said, “this is our means of supporting and encouraging women especially in this period of economic hardship, we wish to extend helping hands to families through these women with our products.

“Cway Company has been supporting Nigerian families but this gesture will go round the entire country,as a healthy and refreshed Nigeria is our goal.”

He urged women to always work together with their husbands by being supportive in running the home.

One of the major resource persons at the event, a legal practitioner, Chief Barrister Caroline Orji-Ekwerekwu, stressed the need for women to prioritize child upbringing above every other thing, reminding them that those children will be their reward in future.

She decried the situation where some women abandon their responsibilities in pursuit of money and other insignificant endeavours, attributing the moral decadence in the society to the neglect of their roles by the feminine gender.
