The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has urged caution in the fight against Tuberculosis, adding that prevention and early detection were crucial in controlling the disease’s spread, urging the public to take the necessary precautions.

Abubakar Argungu, the Head of the Media and Communication Unit of NOA in Kaduna, on behalf of the agency’s State Director, Mr Danjuma Makama said in a statement in Kaduna.

Makama explained that, “TB was primarily spread through coughs, sneezes, mucus, sharing utensils, or talking involving saliva.”

He emphasised the need for preventive measures, including ensuring good ventilation, covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing, and getting tested if symptoms persisted.

He also highlighted the importance of vaccination, particularly for expectant mothers, as well as practicing good personal hygiene.

Makama reassured the public that TB was curable with proper treatment and medication adherence, and that early detection could save lives.

The NOA director stressed that TB remained a significant public health concern and required collective efforts to prevent and control its spread.

He urged individuals to visit health facilities for regular check-ups and testing, and encouraged support for awareness and education campaigns.

Makama commended the federal and state governments for their ongoing efforts in combating TB, pledging the agency’s continued support.
