World Youth Scrabble Championships: Kwara Governor Sponsors Two Athletes

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has sponsored two exceptional under-17 Scrabble athletes, Aliu AbdulQudus Olawale and Olojoku Sufyan Boluwatife, to represent Nigeria at the 2024 World Youth Scrabble Championships (WYSC) in Sri Lanka.

Both athletes, students of Government High School, Ilorin, showcased their talents by winning gold at the 7th National Youth Games, thanks to the Kwara State Sports Commission’s robust preparations.

The 2024 WYSC will kick off on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Sri Lanka and Nigeria’s contingent which includes Prestige Archibong, the winner of the African Youth Scrabble Championship (WASC U-15), Olawale and Boluwatife are in good spirits.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s investment in sports has been yielding fruits in recent times with athletes from Kwara State shattering glass ceilings in different sports including Squash, Scrabble, Table Tennis, and Badminton among other sports.

On Monday, September 2, 2024, Kwara-born Badminton star Eniola Mariam Bolaji, who has enjoyed Governor AbdulRazaq’s generosity over the year stunned the world after clinching a medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Bolaji who is the first African to win a badminton medal at either the Olympic or Paralympic Games dedicated her achievements in the Game to Governor Abdulrazaq in an X post following her ranking as World number two.
