Yobe state emirates pledge support to Nigerian troops

The emirates of Machina, Nguru and Bade in Yobe state have pledged to support troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North East Region with information sharing and intelligence.

A statement by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations Headquarters Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu said the Emirs made the pledge while receiving the Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North East) OPHK, Major General Lander Saraso in their various Palaces in Yobe State.

The move is a in bid to improve the cordial relationship with Traditional Institutions and also foster Civil-Military Relationships in Yobe State.

The Emir of Machina, HRH Alh. Dr. Bashir Albishir Bukar (OON), the Emir of Nguru, HRH Alh Mustapha Ibn Mai Kyari and the Emir of Bade who is also the Deputy Chairman, Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alh. Mai Abubakar Umar Suleiman all pledged to give their support and cooperation to the fight against insurgency in the state.

The Emirs in their separate remarks appreciated the Commander for the visit to their Emirates and applauded the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in Yobe State for technically defeating insurgency and restoring relative peace in the State.

While appreciating the security services for ensuring peaceful conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Yobe State, the Royal Fathers further reiterated their Emirates’ readiness to continually build on the restored peace in the State to pave more ways for Socio-Economic activities and development to thrive.

They offered their blessings and prayers for the Sector Commander and his troops for successful tour of duty in the State.

In a remark, Sector 2 Commander, Major General Saraso stated that the visits were part of his familiarization tours to Military Formations and Units under his command pointing out that he also found it necessary and rewarding to register his presence, pay his respect and seek for royal blessings and guidance from the Emirate Councils which is in line with Nigerian Army Customs and Traditions.

The General further extolled the virtues of the revered Monarchs as custodians of cultures and values and appreciated them for their roles in maintaining a peaceful environment in Yobe State.

The Commander asked for more support from the royal fathers for enhanced Civil – Military Relationship in the State.


Similarly, General Saraso visited 241 Battalion Nguru where he was received, briefed and conducted round the Unit as well as troops deployment in Machina by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Osabo.

General Saraso also visited 159 Battalion at Gashua and one of the Unit’s duty locations at Kanama where he was also briefed and conducted round by the Commanding Officer, Lt Col Dauda Sikiru.

The senior officer addressed officers and soldiers at all the locations visited urging them to remain apolitical, disciplined and dedicated to their assigned duties at all times.
