Yobe state spends over N9bn on agricultural Projects
The Yobe State Government, said it spent over N9 billion on agricultural projects and programmes from 2019 to 2022 to boost productivity and food security in the state.
This was made known by the Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr Mairo Ahmad Amshi, at the handing over ceremony of the administrative block and 20 hectares to the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), donated by the state government, in Zaria.
Amshi said, the Mai Mala Buni administration prioritized the agricultural sector given its potential as a major source of employment and income generation.
“In order to help sustain farmers through increased food production and enhanced standard of living, the Buni administration deliberately tailored its agricultural policies towards accelerated food production through the provision of basic inputs and agricultural implements, particularly tractors, animal traction, fertilizer, chemicals, seedlings, and threshers.”
She added that her ministry would continue to steer the policy thrust of the government to favour agricultural development as it remains the major occupation of the people of the state.
