He made this appeal during the launch of the second phase of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) Project, held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The minister who was represented by the Director-General, Committee for Youth Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS), Mr. Obinna Nwaka underscores the critical need for increased youth engagement in climate initiatives, aligning with the Ministry of Youth Development’s mission to empower young people.

Comrade Olawande also called on stakeholders, experts, and consultants to present practical solutions to address the pressing climate challenges facing Nigeria.

The event, organized by the National Council on Climate Change Secretariat (NCCC), aims to strengthen the capacity of young Nigerians to participate in climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.

A key feature of the program includes the selection of 10 youth representatives who will undergo specialized training, workshops, and capacity-building sessions focused on climate change.

Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe, Director-General and CEO of the NCCC, reassures participants of the government’s ongoing support for youth-led climate action and sustainability initiatives.

She highlights the vital role young people play in shaping Nigeria’s response to climate change.
