Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, living by her words that people should shine the light of love this Christmas, has begun paying charity visits and giving donations to all orphanages and welfare homes in the state.
The visits, according to the governor’s wife, are inspired by the need to give the children and other occupants of the homes a sense of the celebration, interact with them on areas of needs, and remind them that they are always loved.
Speaking at each of the homes where she shared great time with the residents, Mrs Soludo explained that her mindset of Christmas is to reach out to those who are often forgotten by the society in such times of celebrations, and put smiles on their faces.

The Anambra State first lady further disclosed that her plan was to visit every children’s home in Anambra State before Christmas, covering private, public, and mission-owned ones.
The governor’s wife said that such visits meant so much to her, claiming that Christmas would lose its essence without the language of love and kindness.

She maintained her call for people to extend a hand of compassion to those around them, who do not have, with the understanding that humanity will be better when everyone feels loved and protected.

Speaking in one of the homes, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke, thanked the governor’s wife for setting the right example, as not just the mother of the state, but a woman who lives by the virtue of kindness.
Homes visited by the governor’s wife on the first day of the tour included Saint Martin’s Community Children/Welfare Home, Etiti, Igboukwu; Blessed-Nise Community Children’s Home, Nise; Model Community Children’s Home, Ifite-Awka; God’s Care School for Special Needs, Umuayom, Awka; and Faith Community Children’s Home, Awka.
