As the Christmas season is getting closer, the Nasarawa State Police Command has banned the use of fireworks (banger) during the festival in the state.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi in a press statement, also ordered strict enforcement of the ban on the sale and use of fireworks and other explosives, to prevent hoodlums from using it as a cover to perpetuate their nefarious activity.

He also reaffirmed that the ban on the sale, purchase and use of fireworks (knockouts or Banger) and other explosives is still in force in the State.

According to the Commissioner, “community leaders, parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards do not indulge in buying/igniting of fireworks (knockouts and Bangers) and warned dealers of the commodity to stop forthwith, as anyone caught would be made to face the full wrath of the law”,

Soyemi reiterated the command’s commitment to collaborate with sister security agencies and stakeholders to put in place adequate crime prevention measures before, during and after Christmas and New year festive seasons.

The CP further ordered all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical and Operational Units of the Command to deploy all the intelligence and operational assets at their disposal to ensure that all criminal black spots, highways, streets and other places of public interest within their areas of responsibilities are dominated by the Police to overwhelm the criminals and send them packing from the State.

He further directed that all Police personnel must be professional and civil to members of the public while discharging their duties and shun acts of corruption and extortion as anyone found wanting will be decisively dealt with.
