Zamfara State Vulnerable persons benefit from free medical services
No fewer than 5000 vulnerable persons from four local government areas of Zamfara North Senatorial Districts have benefited from free medical treatment, surgeries, and drugs.

According to reports, the exercise, sponsored by a Lawmaker, Sen. Sahabi Ya’u (APC, Zamfara North), was flagged off on Friday at the General Hospital Kaura-Namoda, Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara.
The beneficiaries are drawn from Kaura-Namoda, Birnin-Magaji, Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas.
The lawmaker, who was represented at the event by the Coordinator of the outreach, Alhaji Abba Isah, said that the intervention aimed at supporting vulnerable persons with various health challenges who could not afford the medical cost.
“This is the fulfilment of my campaign promise for the health sector, and it aims at reducing the financial burden of medical services to people at the grassroots. You know health is wealth, this exercise came considering the current economic challenges faced by Nigerians due to fuel subsidy removal. A total of 5000 beneficiaries registered for the outreach comprising males and females, youths and aged people. They will be given free medical services including surgeries, treatments as well as free drugs,” Ya’u said.
The Head of the outreach’s medical team, Dr Kamal Umar also noted that a total of 35 medical doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff were engaged for the exercise.
Umar said that the various health cases to be treated during the outreach included Hernia, eye surgery, dental services, Hypertension and Diabetes, among others.
“We are going to provide glasses for the treated eye patients, and we are also going to provide free transportation and feeding for the treated patients from the four LGAs.
“There would be a free referral of complicated health cases to Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto; Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, and Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria,” Umar added.
