Zhilei Zhang Tells Joshua to Retire After Dubois Defeat
Chinese heavyweight contender Zhilei Zhang has suggested that British boxer Anthony Joshua should consider retiring from boxing, claiming he is “finished” after his surprising loss to Daniel Dubois in September.
Joshua’s attempt to claim a third world championship title ended disastrously, as he was knocked down four times and ultimately defeated in a fifth-round knockout by IBF champion Dubois at Wembley Stadium, in front of a crowd of 98,000.
“In my humble opinion, he is finished, and he should start focusing on investments,” Zhang told DAZN via AceOdds. “He should think about retirement and getting involved in business. Whatever he decides to pursue, he should go in that direction.”

Zhang added, “Of course, I still want to fight him, but I don’t believe he wants to fight me. I doubt Eddie Hearn will put him in the ring with me.”
Zhang’s remarks come after former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis suggested Joshua should take a break from boxing to recover from the recent loss.
“I don’t think he should take the rematch right now. He should rest for a while and then consider coming back,” Lewis told Box Nation. The British boxing icon believes Joshua’s peak performance came during his 2017 victory over Wladimir Klitschko.
