A non-governmental Organisation known as Child Right Foundation has donated educational equipment such as school uniforms, books, and sandals to 100 vulnerable pupils at Ungwan Wajen Lalle primary school in Lafia, Nasarawa state.
The Executive Director, Child Right Foundation Barr. Khadija Abdullahi Adamu, stated this, in Lafia the state capital.
She said that “I feel highly honored to be in Lafia, headquarters of Nasarawa state southern senatorial districts on an educational support for 100 vulnerable children”.
Represented by the deputy director of planning, research, and statistics Nasarawa state ministry for women affairs, Mrs. Rebecca Adamu, said the focus of the foundation is the protection of the rights of the child, especially the girl child.
“Available data shows that the rate of girl child enrolment in schools in Nasarawa state especially in Nasarawa southern senatorial zone has continued to decline. It is therefore imperative to stem this decline and arrest the situation before it consumes the girl child in this area”,
“The scheme will provide school fees, uniforms, school books, sandals, and lunch throughout the school year for the beneficiaries”, Adamu noted.
She said more arrangements are in top gear to commence a scholarship scheme that would promote the enrolment and retention of girls in primary and secondary schools in the state.
She, therefore, appealed to the school children to continue upholding the virtues of seriousness with learning, discipline, and hard work for future benefits.
She appealed to stakeholders to seize this singular opportunity to enroll their children, especially the girl child into schools.
The district head in Lafia, Sa’idu Mohammed, appealed to the relevant authorities to build more structures and provide chairs for the students of the school.
Also, the head teacher of the school, Mr. Umar Sambo, appreciates the foundation for these great donations and said it would go long way in helping the parents with uniforms and sandals.
