One thousand exhibitors have so far attended the London Book Fair (LBF),  at the London Olympia in the United Kingdom.

The book fair is the global marketplace for rights negotiation and the sale and distribution of content across print, audio, TV, film and digital channels.

The fair also offers a unique opportunity to explore, understand and capitalize on the innovations shaping the publishing and knowledge development world of the future.

The one thousand exhibitors and over thirty thousand (30,000) attendees were drawn from different countries for the three-day event.

The Director of the London Book Fair Gareth Rapley told Voice of Nigeria that “this year’s theme: ‘Defining the Future of Creative Content’ is based on the future of the book which is digitized on artificial intelligence, audio texts, digitization and media technology”.

He however decried the low participation from African countries including Nigeria under the umbrella of the African Publishers Network (APNET).

Rapley expressed satisfaction with the opportunities from Africa and the Nigerian book industry.

From publishers to authors, literary agents to booksellers, translators and VIPs, this year’s book fair hosted representatives from the global book industry and offered an avenue to do business, share expertise, network and attend sessions covering key issues across the industry. It brought together internationally acclaimed authors, illustrators and translators from across the globe as well as exciting debut writers.

The LBF brings you direct access to customers, content and emerging markets.

The second day of the London Book Fair which was on the 13th of March brought thousands of returning and new visitors for an exciting packed programme.

The final day saw Nigerian author and podcaster Kelechi Okafor give his remarks alongside other dignitaries at the event.

Some of the topics discussed at the book fair were: Audio education from audio giant Audible; cultivating a culture of reading for pleasure in a rapidly evolving digital world; careers as well as innovative cultural conversations about AI; audiobook representation in the book industry; the impact of AI on audio, the role (if any) of in-book advertising, transforming the Future of the Written Word with AI, the Future of Audio in Publishing: Global Trends and the Impact of AI and where the market is growing internationally and much more.
