A mix media and collage artist, Sylvester Aguddah has called on Nigerians to vote for credible candidates that would take the country to greater heights during the 2023 general elections.
Mr. Aguddah made this known in Lagos while speaking to VON correspondent during the Felabration Arts exhibition.
He advised Nigerians not to allow religion and tribal sentiments to dictate their choices of candidates to vote for during the election.
”It is important that people vote for the right leaders irrespective of tribe or religion. You should lookout for the leaders that have the potential to deliver the mandate that will make Nigeria move forward. Vote for leaders who are not biased and leaders that will make sure that everybody benefits from the nation,” he stated.
Mr. Aguddah who described the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti as someone who used his talent in an orderly manner to communicate and convey his messages to the appropriate authorities urged the youths to emulate him by eschewing any act that will trigger crises that may disrupt the conduct of the elections.
”He’s done his beats in a very orderly manner. Music has been his power. His talent has been what he has used to communicate. This is worthy of emulation. We are proud of those people doing us great internationally. It’s just a matter of time, every other aspects of our human talents will reach out to the world,” he said.
One of the Arts Collectors, David Nwachukwu wants Nigerians to be more united and work together to enable them achieve greater goals for the country as portrayed in the art works of Mr. Sylvester Aguddah.
‘‘Every art work here tells a story and portrays the Culture of Nigeria. There’s always unity and strength in diversity. When you have people of various tribes coming together to work towards a goal, you tend to achieve more together. As Nigerians, it’ll be good we work in unison in actualizing the dreams of our founding fathers,” he reiterated.
On their parts, a foreign music and arts enthusiast, Marion Ray and the curator for Roots, Ifeanyichukwu Oraemeka re-emphasized on the need for Africans especially Nigerians to be more positive and talk more of their good image saying that Africans are endowed with so much talents and cultural heritage.
About fifty Art works made from Paper and fabric collage, pure leather, metal strings and woods were exhibited.
The theme of the exhibition ‘Roots’ was to promote Nigeria’s heritage and Africa at large.
