2023 Census: Nigeria’s Commission trains Personnel on Information Technology

As part of preparations for the conduct of Nigeria’s first digital Census, the National Population Commission has organized a capacity-building workshop for its Personnel on Information Technology

The Chairman of the Commission, Mr Nasir Kwarra who made this known during the workshop in Nasarawa State North central explained that “In an ever-changing world of information and communication technology, the workshop will offer participants the opportunity to update their skills and also acquire new ideas that abound in the field of IT.”

We are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the results of the census are acceptable to Nigerians and the quality of the data to be generated meets international best standards for development planning purposes”.

“The workshop underscores the determination, commitment and readiness of the Commission to deliver on its mandate to conduct a credible and reliable census in 2023.

According to him, the objective of the workshop is to re-energize personnel for optimum performance before, during and after the 2023 Population and Housing Census exercise.

The Commission’s Chairman reiterated that “The specific objectives of the workshop is to impact a deeper understanding of the basic knowledge of vital statistical software that will enable staff of the Commission to analyse, manage and produce visualizations of census data, using Statistics and Data (Stata) and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software”
