2023 Elections : Delta state Set for Collation of Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Delta State, Southern Nigeria has set for collation of election results from all the 25 local government areas of the state.

State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mr Monday Udor-Tom while speaking to Journalists at the INEC headquarters in Asaba, Delta State Southern Nigeria said the collation of results would be done as soon as the Returning officers from local government arrives.

He expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the election process, adding that the comportment and good conduct of electorate elated him the more.

According to him, “though, we encountered challenges during the distribution of electoral materials, and these challenges was accentuated to the overbearing attitudes of some party agents, who actually want to be on ground before the distribution of electoral materials.

“Honestly, voting in some areas started around 8:30am,while in other areas, they started around 9:30am. The beauty of the election was there were no reports of any security breach in all the local government of the state. Although, at some points, the electorate expressed sadness of malfunctioning of the BVAS machines, but the issues were later addressed.

 All the places where the complaint came from, we replaced the malfunctioned BVAS machine to accommodate all intending voters who may likely foment trouble.

On the continuation of the elections in some areas, Mr Udor-Tom restated the commission’s commitment to conduct elections in some polling units that were unable to vote, confirming that elections held in all the 25 local government areas of the state.

He applauded the services of the security personnel for maintaining law and order, election observers both national and international who monitored the election process.
