Messengers of Peace Advocacy group has urged Nigerian youths to vote for credible leaders who won’t fail in using their resources and political connections to develop their communities.

They had also reminded the youths to shun violence ahead of the 2023 elections in the country.

The National President of the advocacy group, Mr. Adejo Suleiman, stated this during the coronation of nine Queen of peace held in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.

Mr. Suleiman noted that voting out corrupt leaders and those who lack patriotism is possible when youths gain their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and massively exercise their franchise during elections.

He said, “the youth of that community should root every corrupt leader that refuses development.

“Vote people who can promote peace, development, education and empowerment.”

He cautioned Nigerian youths not to blame failed leaders but blame themselves for not voting the right people into governance.

While crowning nine Queens of Peace, Suleiman said the aim is to carry out peace advocacy campaigns across the country by working closely with relevant organisations championing peaceful coexistence.

“We will empower the Queens of Peace to conduct sensitisation, training, retraining, and holding town hall meetings on peace.

“We all need peace in Nigeria, and all hands must be on deck to achieve it. This is our own modest way of contributing to the peaceful coexistence we all need,” Mr. Suleiman added.
