The 2023 Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Nasiru Gawuna, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.
Gawuna’s defection comes shortly after former presidential candidate and political heavyweight, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, also registered with the ADC, signaling a growing realignment ahead of future elections.
The former deputy governor, who served under Abdullahi Ganduje, had earlier resigned from the APC in a letter addressed to his ward chairman in Nassarawa Local Government Area.
He described his exit from the ruling party as a “voluntary and personal” decision.
Gawuna was accompanied by Kwankwaso and a large crowd of supporters to complete his ADC registration at his ward, underscoring the momentum behind the movement.
