The Director of Diaspora Directorate, of the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Prince Ade Omole says that close to one million Nigerians in Diaspora are expected to travel down to vote in Nigeria’s 2023 General Election.
Omole who madee these estimations at a press briefing with journalists at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, added that several thousands out of this figure are also projected to be voting for the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Candidate, Mr. Bola Tinubu.
According to Prince Omole who is also the Chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Voting Council, over one point six million Nigerians in Diaspora have their permanent Voters Card.
“From our last research, we have over one-point six million Nigerians with PVCs living outside Nigeria but they’ve come down here, they’ve actually registered and they have their PVCs.
“We were in Cotonou about 3-4 days ago and there was an event we called ‘show your PVC’ . I was concerned because it was an outdoor event in the stadium, how are we gonna fill this stadium, believe me the attendance was impressive and majority of people that came to that stadium had their PVC.
“So they are Nigerians, Progressives, supporters of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with PVCs coming back home to vote for him.
“I’ll be objective, close to a million will come in to vote on that day, several thousand will actually be voting for our principal” he said.
Prince Omole added that the APC Diaspora Directorate has traveled extensively to several countries including the G-6 countries to campaign for Mr. Tinubu.
According to Prince Omole, another strides the Diaspora Directorate, achieved in its campaign for Mr Tinubu is getting an agreement from British Airways and Lufthansa to give a discount on tickets to Nigerians travelling down to the country within the election period.
He said it does not matter if those travelling vote for his principal the APC Presidential Candidate, Mr. Bola Tinubu.
“We reached an agreement with British Airways and Lufthansa airline so that they can give discount to people. Because we knew that during this time from the people we’ve been talking to going round the world, most of them will be coming in between the 10th and the 22nd of February. So we reached an agreement with Lufthansa Airline and British Airways that because of the number of people that will be coming to Nigeria to actually give them discounted ticket to help people coming down to Nigeria.
“And because we are Progressives we didn’t go there with a list that you know, you use this list on whether they are voting for the opposition because at the end of the day, when you are outside Nigeria, we are all Nigerians. Whether you are coming to vote for another person, you will still be entitled to that discounted fair” he said.
The APC Campaign Council Director while explaining his reasons for supporting Mr. Tinubu said the APC presidential flagbearer has a good record of achievements; he is a man of character who not only talks but takes actions as well.
He added that Mr. Tinubu has promised to involve more Nigerians in Diaspora in his government such as appointing them to his cabinet.
