2023: Senator Fadahunsi, others win Osun State PDP primaries

The incumbent lawmaker representing Osun East in the Senate, Mr. Francis Fadahunsi, won the ticket to recontest in the 2023 general elections under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP platform.

Other winners have also emerged in the primaries of Osun PDP National Assembly and State Assembly polls for the 2023 general election.

At the rescheduled exercise held in the Osunjela community on Tuesday, Fadahunsi defeated the ex-member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Gbenga Onigbogi.

Fadahunsi polled 187 votes to defeat Onigbogi, who got 137 votes.

In the same vein, Mr. Lere Oyewumi and Mr. Oluseyi Fabiyi emerged victorious as Osun West and Osun Central Senatorial District candidates.

Oyewumi defeated his close rivals, Peter Babalola and Dele Adeleke, in the Osun West Senatorial District to clinch the party ticket for the second consecutive time, having contested in 2019.

On his part, Fabiyi defeated a former Osun PDP Chairman, Gani Olaoluwa, and former Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Kamarudeen Ajisafe, to become the PDP standard-bearer for Osun Central Senatorial District.

Meanwhile, Lukman Kayode Mudashir and Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro won the primaries for Iwo, Ayedire, Olaoluwa, and Ife Federal Constituencies.

Other winners of the PDP primaries for the Osun House of Assembly include:

  • Egbedore State Constituency – Rotimi Ogunrinade
  • Ede South State Constituency – Taofeek Olayiwola
  • Ayedire State Constituency – Oderinwale Elisha
  • Olorunda State Constituency – Ajibola Olaide Kolawole
  • Boluwaduro State Constituency – Abayomi Aina
  • Ejigbo State Constituency – Olujimi Asagade
  • Ife North State Constituency – Abidemi Akinyode
  • Ayedaade State Constituency – Folorunso Ogundare

Commenting on the primary elections, the Director, Media and Strategy of Osun PDP, Oladele Oluwabamiji, said the exercise was peaceful and called on the candidates to work in concert in their various areas to ensure PDP remains strong ahead of the governorship poll scheduled for July 16, 2022.
