As Nigeria approaches the 2027 general election, the Action Democratic Party, ADP says it “stands ready to lead Nigeria’s rescue peacefully, democratically, and decisively.”
The National Chairman of the ADP, Mr Yabagi Sani who made the statement during a press conference in Abuja Nigeria’s capital said
“Nigeria needs courage, competence, accountability, and inclusion.” And that “Nigeria does not need propaganda.”
He said his political party the “Action Democratic Party offers a credible alternative anchored on accountable security reform, production-based economy, disciplined public finance, reliable power and infrastructure, and measurement-driven oil governance.
Mr. Sani said the ADP will also prioritise food security, Education and healthcare revival, women’s full political inclusion, youth-driven national development and constitutional democracy.
Democracy is not sustained by elections alone. It thrives on pluralism, inclusion, civic trust, and the assurance that all political actors have a stake.
The ADP 2023 Presidential Candidate also said that “Nigeria’s democracy faces shrinking civic space, money-driven politics, and weak internal party democracy.”
Mr. Sani also called for more inclusion of women participation in politics adding that “Women constitute nearly half of Nigeria’s population, yet account for less than 4% of parliamentary representation, among the lowest globally.”
He further said that “history shows Nigerian women have always played central roles—from the Aba Women’s uprising to leadership in social and economic movements.”
He reiterated that “Many democracies corrected imbalance through reserved seats and affirmative frameworks.”
