Four ambulances belonging to a Jewish community organisation in North London were set on fire overnight in what British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, described as a “deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.”
The London Fire Brigade deployed six fire engines and about 40 firefighters to the scene. Authorities said gas cylinders inside the vehicles exploded during the blaze, shattering windows in a nearby residential building. No casualties were reported.
According to reports, an Iran-aligned militant group, identified as the Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand, claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred near a synagogue in Golders Green.
The group also claimed involvement in similar incidents in Belgium, Greece and the Netherlands.
Prime Minister Starmer condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with the Jewish community.
“My thoughts are with the Jewish community waking up to this horrific news,” he said in a statement, adding that antisemitism has no place in British society.
Israel’s embassy in the United Kingdom also condemned the incident, warning of rising antisemitism in London.
It called for a thorough investigation and decisive action to prevent further attacks.
“Enough is enough. There must be concrete steps to end this climate of intimidation,” the embassy stated.
Britain has recorded a surge in antisemitic incidents since 2023. One of the most serious cases occurred in 2025 in Manchester, where two Jewish worshippers were killed during Yom Kippur.
