Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, is demanding an improvement in goal scoring despite his side’s 2-1 win over Plateau United FC of Jos in a NPFL Matchday one fixture on Saturday.

Ogunbote expressed his happiness with the team’s winning start but insisted that more still needed to be done in the goal scoring department.

Before now, we have been crying we have not been able to score goals, but now that we’ve started with two goals, we have to improve on it,” Ogunbote said in his post-match interview.

The 3SC chief tactician hinted that his team would have scored more goals but for the anxiety on the part of his players.

“I was thinking we would get some goals, even before the first goal came but unfortunately, you can see the anxiety in the players. The anxiety in my boys robbed us the opportunity of scoring goals before the first one”.

Be it as it may, it wasn’t a bad one, give it to the team, we can always improve on what we have built“, stated the ex Sunshine Stars coach, who expressed happiness that his team was able to pick the three maximum points.

Ogunbote’s demands for improvement in goal scoring are justified.

Shooting Stars created several chances against Plateau United but were only able to convert two of them.

This is an area that the team will need to work on if they are to challenge for the league title this season.

Shooting Stars have a talented squad with several attacking players who are capable of scoring goals.

However, they need to find a way to be more clinical in front of goal.

If they can do that, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the NPFL this season.
