Ebonyi Government campaigns for COVID-19 vaccination, personal hygiene

Ebonyi State Government has called on General Public particularly Ebonyi people who are up to 18 years above to go to the nearest health Center and get COVID 19 vaccine.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Daniel Umezuruke made this Known to Journalists in Abakaliki the State Capital.
Dr Umezuruke directed that those who have taken the first jab should go for the second jab While those who have not taken at all should go an get vaccinated.
He urged that even after getting immunised with the vaccine, there is need for you to maintain personal hygiene to avoid other infectious diseases like Cholera, Lassa fever and others.
We urge all Ebonyi people to keep their environment clean, drink water that is boiled and stored in a safe place, ensure food is cooked and stored in clean and safe place, avoid open defication and ensure you wash your hands with soap and running water”. Umezuruke added.
He urged all Nigerians to continue to keep COVID 19 protocols even after taking the vaccine.
The Commissioner assured that there is no case of COVID 19, Cholera and Lassa fever in Ebonyi State for now.
He maintained that no pregnant women should take COVID 19 vaccine.
ON USAID INTEGRATED HEALTH PROGRAM
The Ebonyi State Director United States Agency for International Development Integrated Health Program USAID-IHP, Dr Gladys Olisaeke handed over internationally and locally procured Health equipment to be used in training of Local Government  health officers to the State Commissioner for Health.
Dr Olisaeke said USAID Integrated Health Program embarks on this project to ensure that those health equipments are there in the facilities and actually used to reduce the rate of Maternal mortality and morbidity in the State.
These equipments are going to cut across the 198 Primary Healthcare Centers PHCs in the State, which covers the 171 prioritized  PHCs in the State and selected 27 Health facilities in the State”. Olisaeke explained.
She said USAID-IHP is a n expanded efforts of USAID to save lives.
In reaction, Dr Umezuruke promised that the state will make good use of the equipment as provided
